Historic blocks that cannot be widened
Downtown Golden is a nineteenth-century street grid with buildings tight to the sidewalk and alleys that were sized for a wagon. A Golden storefront renovation therefore puts its unit in the rear alley or a leased parking bay, never on the main frontage. We ask which alley entrance a Golden driver should use, because several of them narrow to a single vehicle partway along. Brick repointing and window replacement on those Golden buildings can run months, so the unit becomes part of the alley furniture for a season.
Canyon roads and the grade above town
Golden is the gateway to two canyon roads, and utility, rockfall and bridge work on those grades runs through most of the construction season. Units for a Golden canyon project go on a graded pullout or a shoulder wide enough for a truck to stop safely outside the travel lane.
Those Golden canyon placements move as the work walks uphill, so we reposition at service visits rather than expecting a fixed spot. Rockfall closures on the Golden approaches can also strand a site for a day, which is why those rentals are serviced early in the week.
Clear Creek, floods and the seasons
Clear Creek runs through the middle of Golden and rises fast in a warm June, so nothing is placed on the low bench beside the water. Golden units stay up on paving or compacted gravel above the flood line, including during the tubing season when the banks look benign.
Wind funnels out of the canyon mouth across Golden most afternoons, and it is strong enough to move an empty unit standing on an open lot. Anything left overnight on a Golden site gets anchored, and drivers check the straps at every visit through the spring.
